A trip to Belarus is not generally in the top positions of countries to visit on a tourist’s list. Many think that this war- torn country has very little to offer, but the truth is that they are wrong. The country offers very interesting places to visit that you should consider visiting one day.
Minsk
If you are a traveler in search of historical buildings, you may be a bit disappointed. Although it was founded in the 11th century, most of the buildings were destroyed during the Second World War . Of course, you can visit several museums such as the Museum of the History of Belarus. You can also visit the museum of the Great War.
Brest
It is one of the largest cities in Belarus and the closest to the Polish border. The city has an important rail system that connects it with several cities in Eastern Europe. Two of the most popular tourist destinations in the city are the Brest Fortress and the St. Nikolaivsky Church .
Belavezhskaja Pushcha nature reserve
No trip to the area can be complete without a visit to this impressive nature reserve. The reserve spans more than 500 square miles. Not only is it the reserve of one of the largest forests in Europe, it is also home to a wide variety of animals, including more than 1000 bison .
Katyn
The city of Katyn was destroyed in 1943 and today it is a monument dedicated to all the people who died back then. You must see the sculpture of Yuzif Kaminsky , the only Belarusian citizen who survived the burning of Katyn.
