In recent times we have been able to see how jihadist terrorism has hit the tourist center of countries in Europe, Asia and North Africa with force. Their objective is clear: to spread panic, demonstrate their strength and show that the countries they consider enemies are vulnerable. The problem is that, massacre after massacre, they are getting it. In fact, there are many who take terrorism into account when planning vacations.
To make it easier for all tourists who put safety before any other aspect, the newspaper The Independent has published a map prepared by the company CartoDB in which, based on the recommendations of the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it shows the countries that are unsafe throughout the territory (in red), those that are unsafe in some parts (in orange) and those that are safe (in green). Tunisia
The map advises against travel to Tunisia, which has suffered several terrorist attacks . One of the most serious events took place in June 2015, when a terrorist killed 39 people in two coastal hotels.
Libya
They also do not recommend traveling to Libya, a country that is severely affected by violence, terrorism and deteriorating security. In fact, there have been armed robberies and murders of foreigners.
Mauritania
Another country that is best avoided according to this map is Mauritania, which lives under the threat of terrorism.
Mali
Due to the ongoing military intervention and the fragile political and security situation, travel to Mali is also discouraged. In fact, there is a high risk of kidnapping and terrorist threats throughout the country.
Burkina faso
Another country that appears in red on the map is Burkina Faso, which is experiencing a volatile security situation.
Niger
We are still in Africa to talk to you about the Republic of Niger, which is affected by the same conditions of insecurity as the rest of the Sahel countries.
Chad
Travel to Chad is also discouraged, where there is a very serious risk of kidnappings throughout the country.
Central African Republic
On the other hand, the political transition that the Central African Republic has undergone during the last three years has been marked by a high level of violence and a major humanitarian crisis.
South Sudan
Another African country that appears on the list is the Republic of South Sudan. In fact, the entire territory is considered a high-risk area, especially since the start of the civil conflict in December 2014.
Somalia
Somalia also appears in red, among other things because in this country there is a high risk of kidnapping throughout the territory.
Burundi
Travel to Burundi, where acts of extreme violence have occurred in certain areas, are also discouraged.
Syria
Already in Asia we are recommended not to travel to Syria which, as you well know, is in a situation of armed conflict.
Iraq
Iraq is another of the Asian countries that appears in red on the map, something that is not surprising if we consider that the territory is seriously damaged by terrorist activity and kidnappings.
Yemen
We must also speak of Yemen, where there has been an escalation of violence in recent times and where armed clashes and military attacks are taking place in large areas of the country.
Afghanistan
Finally, we have to talk about Afghanistan, a country in which disturbances of public order can occur. In addition, there is a high risk of attacks and kidnappings.
