Bangkok, a very unique city

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and also the largest city in the country. With a population of close to 9 million, it is located near the Gulf of Thailand and is one of the cities that receives the most tourists in the world . The authentic name of the city is very long and its meaning is as follows: «City of angels, the great city, the city of eternal jewel, the impenetrable city of the god Indra, the magnificent capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, which abounds in a colossal Royal Palace that resembles the divine domicile where the reincarnated gods reign, a city offered by Indra and built by Vishnukam ».

Bangkok is the most economically important city in Thailand. The ‘Chao Phraya’ river makes the city function as a port. Without a doubt, tourism is one of the main sources of income , if not the main one.
We can find many Buddhist temples such as the ‘Wat Pho’ and the ‘Wat Arun’. If what we really want is to take a backpacking excursion, we must head to the ‘Khaosan’ road.

The transport network is very complete. Many new elevated highways have been built and also a highway that completely surrounds the city. The railway line was finished in 1999 and in 2004 the subway did.
Thanks to the bus we can move around all the cities and provinces of Bangkok.
The airport , called ‘Don Muang’, is the busiest in Southeast Asia and one of the best serving customers.
