Blue flag beaches

The blue flags are an eco-label promoted by the Environmental and Consumer Education Association that have been awarded to the beaches of more than 36 countries in Europe, Canada, New Zealand, Morocco, the Republic of South Africa and the Caribbean , with which it is wanted recognize that those beaches meet some sanitary-environmental requirements . They are awarded null and void and various criteria are taken into account such as environmental management, water quality, safety and services, and environmental information and education.

Currently, the country with the highest number of blue flags on its beaches is Spain , Catalonia being the leading autonomous community, with a total of 112 flags, followed by Galicia with 105, Valencia with 100 and the Balearic Islands with 84.
This year, Spain has received a total of 527, 455 flags for beaches and 72 for marinas. Even so, this year it will have 49 fewer flags compared to last year.

Asturias: Castropol, Llanes.
Cantabria: Santander, Arnuero.
