Curaçao is located on the fringes of the so-called hurricane belt, 35 miles north of Venezuela and 42 miles east of Aruba . It is the largest of the islands in the Netherlands Antilles (approximately 171 square miles). Curaçao is characterized by its mix of influences : European, African, and even Latin American.
