One of the best luxury hotels in Paris , the Hotel de Crillon , has been put up for sale by its owners ( Starwood Capital ) for a price of 300 million euros (about 420 million dollars). Built in 1758 , this luxurious hotel began as a government building. The commission to carry it out was carried out by Louis XV. The building is located near the Champs Elysees in the Place de la Concorde.
Starwood bought the building in 2005 . The company bought the five-star hotel as part of one of its investments. These investments also included the acquisition of the French champagne brand Taittinger , which it would later sell. The Crillon became a hotel more than 100 years ago and its well-known guests include the Shah of Iran and Winston Churchill.
The Hotel Crillon reflects total opulence .
