The Golden Temple is like the golden crown of the city of Amritsar . This impressive place is considered to be the most religious place (sanctuary) of the Sikhs. In March 2005 the temple was officially renamed Harmandir Sahib, although it is also known as Darbar Sahib. Amritsar, was created by the guru of the fourth dynasty of the Sikhs, Guru Ramdas.

The construction of the temple began basically in the year 1574, when the Mughal emperor Akbar gave the land to Bhani, daughter of the fourth guru. However, the temple was perfectly built under the supervision of Arjan Dev. The temple was completed in 1604. In the mid- 18th century the temple was attacked by Afghans and rebuilt in 1760.

Hari Mandir Sahib or Darbar : it is the most beautiful, attractive and sacred part of the temple complex. The domes of this structure are gold-plated and the walls are made of white marble, decorated with precious stones with the Islamic pattern.
Amrit Sarovar : it is a sacred pool. It is surrounded by a circular walk called Parikrama
Central Sikh Museum : this museum is located at the main entrance of the complex. It displays the images and memories of Sikh gurus, saints and warriors.
