The nation of Israel is made up of less than 8,000 square miles. To give you an idea, it is the size of the state of Massachusetts in the United States. There are some communities that if you decide to take a trip through the area, it is highly recommended that you get to know: the kibbutz . The first kibbutz that settled in the area gave rise to the well-known Degonia, and they did so near the Sea of Galilee, in 1909.
Others followed in the 1920s. There are about 230 kibbutzim in Israel. These Israeli farming communities can vary somewhat depending on the primary focus of each particular group. Most are primarily agricultural, while others focus on making toys, shoes, blown glass, etc. Within themselves there are different classes and as always, some are very tall and others are simply poor. 
Women work like men, and everyone eats at a common table. Some kibbutzim have modern kitchens, swimming pools, and gyms. They also have art galleries, concert halls, and cultural centers. Kibbutz hotels are very popular places. Originally the children of the kibbutz lived in a separate house, apart from their parents.
Their parents worked all day and only saw their children in the evenings and on weekends. Today, this has changed in order to achieve a much more consolidated family unit. Children live with their parents and they do not need to always be in the so-called “ children’s houses ”.
