It enjoys a moderate continental climate with significant variations in temperatures. The hottest month is usually August and January the coldest. Around 600mm per year of rainfall is what the city receives on average annually, mostly concentrated in the summer. At that time of year, it is less warm than other areas of Bulgaria due to the altitude at which it is anchored. However, temperatures can exceed 40ºC.

Sofia is the economic center of the country . With more than 800 factories and production centers, the country survives mainly thanks to the industrial sector. Metal products, textiles, electronic articles, leather and rubber articles… are some of the products that are produced in abundance. Construction, transportation and commerce are also gaining weight in the country’s GDP. The outsourcing of cheap Bulgarian labor has meant that many European multinationals have moved their production processes to the capital of Bulgaria.
