The fiji islands: white sand beaches, coconut trees and seabed

Fiji is made up of 322 islands of which only a third are inhabited , the others are almost virgin. The most important are Vanua Levu and Viti Levu that complete eight small islands: Labasa, Lautoka, Levuka, Kadavu, Savusavu, Taveuni. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, and almost three-thirds of the total population .

These are mountainous islands , with peaks that in some cases reach 1,200 meters and are covered by tropical forests . You will be able to practice ecotourism in the Mausori Mountains but also all the traditional activities, underwater diving, hiking and even horseback riding.
Numerous festivals set the pace of life in Fiji . The most notable are the Sukuna festival , on May 29, the Hibiscus festival in Suva , during the months of July and August, and also the Sugar festival in Lautoka , in the month of September. During these festivities you will have the opportunity to try kokoda , a dish made from raw marine fish in lemon juice, or palusame, taro leaves cooked in coconut milk.

Fiji has forest, mineral and fishing resources that make it one of the most developed economies in the Pacific , although a significant part of the population is engaged in subsistence economic activities . The main sources of foreign exchange for the country are sugar exports and the growing tourism industry with 300,000 to 400,000 tourists visiting the country each year.
