The history of Tripoli

tripoli
Tripoli is the calmest and most relaxed area of stunning Libya . Known in Roman times as OEA, it stood out as one of the most fertile and richest areas in the entire country. The area where it is located is known as Tripolitania. This name is due to the fact that the area is made up of two other large cities: Sabratha and Leptis Magna. After the Arab conquest in the 7th century, the city was renamed Tripoli, or Tarabulus in Arabic.

The Arabs, the Ottomans and, more recently, the Italians chose to build brilliant white architectural works, which have earned the city the nickname "the white bride of the Mediterranean". The United Nations imposed a series of sanctions against Libya years ago, which strongly affected tourism in the area. In 2004 these sanctions were lifted and Tripoli became a very popular destination. The city has become accustomed to this movement of tourists, but the most surprising thing is that they have not expanded their facilities to accommodate a greater number of visitors.
