One of the greatest treasures that the Danes have is The Little Mermaid , a symbol of the country and which is located near the Amalienborg Palace , where the Royal Family resides. This mermaid, like all of them, lives in the sea, specifically on a rock that is inserted into the sea but that does not have a difficult access, although taking the photo will be a bit complicated since there are many tourists who are there at all times . Although good, you will be on vacation so be patient and enjoy the views while you wait for your turn.

According to legend, when the mermaids sang the sailors were bewitched with that song, especially one that while working on the high seas was totally bewitched. The Little Mermaid fell in love with that sailor and gave up being a mermaid in order to be a woman on earth , also giving up her immortality in order to get the love of her sailor. It is not really known if it is a myth or if it really was like that, but the truth is that this is the legend that has been told from generation to generation and that even the writer Hans Cristian Andersen captured it in one of his books .

The Danish Little Mermaid was built in 1913 on the orders of a tycoon and was inspired by a very famous Danish dancer of that time. It is made of cast bronze, measures 1.25 meters and weighs 175 kilograms. It is placed on some stones on the shores of the Baltic Sea in the bay of the port of Copenhagen and in the background you can see all the boats and it is a wonderful image to enjoy the sunset. There are many molds made and ready to be used since it is one of the monuments that suffers the most vandalism in the whole country, to the point that they have cut off its head, they have ripped off the rock, they have painted it pink … all that made by Danes who don’t want it to be their symbol.
