Dubai Aquarium
How could it be otherwise, let’s start by talking about the Dubai Aquarium, which, surprisingly, is located under the Dubai Mall, one of the most spectacular shopping centers in the United Arab Emirates. Mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records for having the largest acrylic panel in the world, this aquarium allows you to see more than 85 species of marine animals. With a total of 48 meters long and 11 meters deep, it has underwater tunnels that allow you to see closely the more than 33,000 animals in the aquarium, you can find more than 400 sharks, crocodiles and exotic species. Nor should we forget that it is considered the largest indoor aquarium on the planet.
AquaDom
Another aquarium that cannot be missing from this list is the AquaDom, considered the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world. One of the most striking things about this aquarium is that it is located inside a hotel, specifically in the luxurious Radisson in Berlin. With 11 meters in diameter, 25 meters high and 900,000 liters of seawater, the aquarium houses more than 26,000 fish belonging to 56 different species, being able to find puffer fish, Napoleon fish, clown fish or corals. Yes, if we have to highlight something about this aquarium, it is that it has an elevator that passes through this impressive fish tank, being able to contemplate the marine kingdom from the inside every time you want to change the floor.
Georgia Aquarium
We continue our tour of the most beautiful aquariums in the world in Atlanta, Georgia (United States), where the largest aquarium in the world is located. We refer to the Goergia Aquarium, which was inaugurated in 2015. In its 38 million liters of water, more than 100,000 specimens of some 500 species can be found, highlighting the beluga whale, the whale shark and the manta ray. In addition, those interested can swim with sharks or horseshoe crabs, which are estimated to have been on earth for about 200 million years. Also, keep in mind that the aquarium has a theater and an impressive coral reef. Interestingly, Atlanta is not a coastal city, but is located 400 kilometers from the coast.
Ushaka
Finally, we want to tell you about the Ushaka Aquarium, which is located in Durban, South Africa. Without a doubt, it is one of the most spectacular aquariums in all of Africa, with more than 30 ponds that house some 20,000 cubic meters of water. The most curious thing about this place is that the marine specimens that can be found here (dolphins, sharks, seahorses, turtles, rock fish …), are surrounded by large walls that simulate the remains of a wrecked ship. In addition, inside the aquarium is the Moyo restaurant, where you can taste Zulu cuisine while you continue enjoying the underwater landscape.
