The Tower of Hercules is the symbol of the city of A Coruña and in 2009 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A spectacular lighthouse with a height of 68 m that is from the 11th century. It is also the oldest in operation in the world, since despite its long age and being the main tourist center of the city, it continues to operate. It is also the only Roman lighthouse and it flashes in groups of four every 20 seconds.

It is the most visited monument in A Coruña and you can access the top and see the whole city from the heights, something essential since from here you will take the best photographs. Of course, to get to the top you will have to climb endless stairs, but I assure you that it will be worth it.

In the surroundings you will not only be able to see all the sea and the beaches of Riazor and Orzán , but you will also enjoy the Sculpture Park of the Tower of Hercules and where you can see, on the way to the Tower, more than 15 works by important artists of the 20th century like Pablo Serrano or Francisco Leiro. A true open-air museum.

If you have time, you can take a walk for several kilometers along the Paseo Marítimo that runs through the city from end to end and that from the Tower of Hercules can take you to the Riazor Stadium, the aforementioned beaches and the Monte de San Pedro , where they have installed an elevator that takes you from the Paseo to the top of the mountain and the views are spectacular. In addition, in that area there is another monument, the Milenium , inaugurated a few years ago and which is becoming another important point of visit for all tourists.
