Uganda is an African country located in the east-central part of the continent that has no coastline. It is bordered to the north by Sudan and Ethiopia, to the south by Rwanda and Tanzania, to the east by Kenya and to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its capital is Kampala and the language is English although there are numerous ethnic languages such as Luganda or Swahili.
The climate , contrary to what we might think, has mild and moderate temperatures . The dry season runs from December to February and from June to August. It is particularly advisable to visit the country during these months of the year. March, April, May, October and November are wet months.
Although the country is landlocked, it has many rivers and lakes such as Lake Victoria, Lake Albert, Lake Kyoga or Lake Eduardo.
The economy survives thanks to the abundant natural resources that the country possesses, including important deposits of copper and cobalt. More than 80% of the population works in the primary sector and the highest income comes from the export of coffee.
As we have commented previously, English is the most widely spoken official language although there are more than 40 languages still in use. The language with the largest number of native speakers is Luganda. Swahili is used primarily for business relationships.
The majority of the population is Christian, although there is also a significant Muslim and Hindu minority. Indigenous beliefs are also practiced.
As for what to visit, it is essential to take a walk through the multitude of reserves and natural parks that the country has. Giraffes, antelopes, zebras, gorillas … are some of the animals that you can find in places like Kabalega National Park or Ruwenzori National Park.
Adventurers can also have a lot of fun in this territory. Rafting, swimming, climbing, hiking, trekking or trekking are some of the activities to do. All this without forgetting the typical safaris that will allow us to mix with a unique fauna and flora in the world.
If food is your concern, you can rest easy. The cuisine is very similar to what is usually made in Africa based on meat (chicken, goat, cow or lamb) and freshwater fish. And to help pass the drink, nothing better than a beer or a little of the national liquor , the waragi.
