Olot and Besalú

In the Garrotxa region, close to Girona, is the beautiful town of Olot , famous for its great variety and delicacy of sausages. But, in addition, this capital of the region has a great variety of interesting places, in a volcanic environment .

The Can Trincheria house museum dedicated to ethnography and fine arts, the Torre Malgrida gardens, the municipal theater or the Cloister of Carmen, among others, would make up an interesting tour. On the other hand, Olot also offers a rich cultural activity that ranges from traditional fairs to contemporary art exhibitions.

Besalú is a charming and famous medieval town, whose most emblematic construction is the bridge over the Fluvià river. It is one of the few cities that preserve its historic buildings almost intact, in addition to being surrounded by green spaces, ideal for hiking .

La Fageda d’en Jordà

It is the most spectacular of the natural reserves of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park . It is crossed by several hiking trails, among beech forests, which pass through the towns of Olot, Santa Pau and Les Presses.
Among the thirty volcanoes that can be visited, the most famous are Santa Margarida and Croscat . One for being the most photographed and the other for being the last to erupt.

If its landscapes are spectacular, so is the volcanic gastronomy , so called because in 1994 the Volcanic Cuisine group was created, which brings together the best chefs in the area. The style of its dishes is based on creativity and originality, and surprises by the tradition of medieval recipes .
