What to do in Istanbul

istanbul
Istanbul is one of the oldest cities in the world. If you decide to spend your holidays there, you will surely find a lot of activities that you can do alone or in company. The first thing to do in Istanbul is to get to know and enjoy the local gastronomy. The best place to start is the typical Kebab restaurant. Kebab is a typical food from the southeast of Turkey and although you may be familiar with the western version, it has nothing to do with the original Turkish Kebab .

The traditional Kebab can be cooked on the fire or on the grill, but if you prefer it in the form of a sandwich, look for a Döner Kebab, which is made up of roasted lamb, between two very thin slices, of unleavened bread with vegetables and a yogurt Delicious with a little garlic sauce. Fresh fish and seafood can be found easily and in abundance in Istanbul. For those who like to have a drink with dinner, Raki is a traditional drink (with alcohol) made with anise and grapes, which is always served with fish.

Anything you want, you can find it in Istanbul: gold and silver, rugs, slippers, boots, books, bags and much more. Remember that in Turkey, traders are often offended if you pay them directly what they ask for, you have to haggle.

Another activity that you must do is to go to a typical Turkish bath . Just make sure to check the bath time in the places that exist in the city, since it depends on your gender you will have to go at one hour or another. There are specific hours for men and women separately.
