First of all, we want to tell you about the Lakes of Covadonga, a natural setting where you can see two wonderful lakes of glacial origin: Enol and La Ercina. Of course, we cannot forget the clogged lake of Bricial, in which there is only water during periods of thaw and after heavy rains. From Asturias we moved to the Catalan province of Girona , specifically to the city of Banyoles, where we can find the largest lake in this autonomous community. As you may have imagined, we are referring to what is known as Lake Banyoles, a natural space of great ecological, scenic, cultural and geological value.

We continue our tour of the most beautiful lakes in Spain in Antequera, a municipality in the Andalusian province of Malaga. Here we find the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, which is the largest in the autonomous community. Framed in a landscape of soft relief covered with olive and cereal fields, the lagoon is a privileged place for the reproduction of the pink flamingo. In addition, this is a place of passage for many other birds.

We are talking about a dark and enigmatic body of water located 2,000 meters above sea level. Due to its gloomy appearance, it is shrouded in numerous legends.

We return to Catalonia to tell you about another beautiful lake. In this case we are located in the province of Lleida , where we find the Aguas Tortas National Park and San Mauricio Lake. Located in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, the lake is at the foot of the Encants mountain, a formation that, according to legend, has the shape of two hunters who were cursed by divine forces.

Nor could the Lagunas de Ruidera Natural Park be missing from the list, one of the best representations of lakes created from the accumulation of calcium carbonate. Natural dams have formed over the centuries, leading to spectacular waterfalls. It is located in Castilla-La Mancha.
