Visit the Berlin Zoo

Now that we are in the middle of the holiday season, if you have not left yet, you are sure that you are already finalizing all the details so that your trip is perfect and you have everything perfectly organized. If you are traveling to Berlin , I would like to recommend a great place to visit, especially if you are traveling with children. It is about the Berlin Zoo , which is the most famous and oldest in the whole country. It was inaugurated in 1844 and covers almost 35 hectares.

The zoo is in the Tiergarten , which is the main park in the city, and it is home to more than 1,500 different species spread over more than 17,500 animals, which makes it the most complete collection of species in the world. Among its species you can find many in danger of extinction since it collaborates with several protection programs, reintroduction of species and also with universities and research institutes. It is also the most visited zoo in all of Europe and one of the most visited in the world with more than 3 million visitors a year.

Almost all the animals are in environments that simulate their natural habitats , which are spectacular in cases such as the area where felines or some predators are. In the basement of the park is where the section with the nocturnal animals is, where there are many species. In the aquarium there is one of the largest collections of aquatic life in Europe and it was built in 1913.

To get here, the easiest way is to go by train and get off at the Zoo station , which is also one of the most important in the city. It can also be reached through the Elephant Gate, which is next to the aquarium, or the Lions Gate at Hardenbergplatz.
