Volendam is one of the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands , and not because I say so, but in the country itself they promote it that way. It is the most attractive of the city thanks to the color of its little houses, and it is also the most lively area of the city. It is one of the most important Dutch ports thanks to herring fishing, and in front of almost all the little houses there are small boats moored, which gives rise to a very picturesque landscape. In many of the shops in the port area, the shop assistants wear the typical costume , which gives the place much more charm. The port is pretty much the only interesting thing when you visit Volendam, although the alleys in the rest of the city are beautiful and very charming.
Marken
Since you are going to get to Volendam, it is highly recommended to also go to Marken, a small town that is only 6 kilometers away and you have to go by boat . The journey is very short but you will find one of the most beautiful cities in the whole country. Between Marken and Volendam there has always been a lot of rivalry in all aspects.
