Japan’s Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is one of the most impressive aquariums in the world. Thanks to the technology used in it, anyone who goes can feel as if they were walking on the seabed . Without the need to use diving equipment and simply by leaning on its gigantic crystals, you will be able to contemplate the great variety of fish that inhabit its interior: 740 species and 26,000 animals. Some of them will surprise you by their large size.
This Aquarium of Japan is the second in size of all the aquariums in the world (behind the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta), being able to house 7,500 cubic meters of water in its main tank. The glass that surrounds it and that allows you to contemplate this giant fish tank is about 8 meters wide by 22 long.
The whale shark is the main attraction
These enormous dimensions are what allow this to be one of the few aquariums in the world capable of housing a giant species of shark, such as the whale shark . But it is that apparently in this tank you will not only find one but three whale sharks, as well as giant manta rays .
The aquarium is part of the National Government Commemorative Ocean Expo located in Motubu. In addition to the main tank, the aquarium is made up of four floors and a total of 77 tanks to which salt water is pumped out to sea 24 hours a day. It is a wonderful place to contemplate the beauty of the various marine species . It will blow your mind!
