The Island of San Martín is an island located in the Caribbean Sea , approximately 240 km east of the island of Puerto Rico. Shared between France and the Netherlands since 1648.
The island was spotted by the navigator Christopher Columbus on November 11, 1493, the day of San Martín de Tours, in honor of which he named the island.
The beaches are diverse: to the east the sea is strong and tumultuous, to the west is the characteristic calm sea of the Caribbean.

The main sports practiced are softball and baseball . Soccer is not very popular, but despite this, both parts of the island have national teams of the sport.
