Fascinating. This is how I define the Potala Palace in China , an impressive palace not only for its appearance but also for the environment in which it is located. To the west of Lhasa, it is one of the most famous palaces in the world, as well as being the oldest and the highest above sea level (3,700 meters). It was built during the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century BC and is a World Heritage Site.
It is a sacred place for many Tibetans and was a gift from King Songtsam Gampo to his girlfriend. It is 13 stories high, covers about 130,000 square meters, and has more than 1,000 rooms. Inside there are many artifacts and articles that are very important in Tibetan history, as well as others with great religious and cultural importance in the area.
This palace is divided into two smaller palaces, which are the White Palace and the Red Palace . The latter is the highest of the two and has several chapels, a house of prayer for the use of the Dalai Lama and other rooms dedicated to religion and the study of Buddhism.
