I have already said on several occasions that Portugal seems to me a fantastic destination for vacations since not only do we have it very close but it has many places of great interest and that they offer you all kinds of tourism. Today I would like to tell you about Viana do Castelo , a city that is less than an hour from the border with Galicia.

This city is on the banks of the Limia River and is one of the historical cities of Portugal since it has many attractions such as museums, churches, buildings and also its coast, which is always an incentive to enjoy a much more beautiful and relaxing landscape . Take note of the places of interest in Viana do Castelo :

– The Plaza de la RepĂşblica is the ideal place to start your tour of the city since it is right in the center, so from there you will have a lot of alleys that make up the most historic part of the city. In the square is the old Town Hall, the Costume Museum , the Central Fountain and the Hospital de la Misericordia.

– When you start strolling through the center you will find a lot of stone houses that have survived from the 17th and 18th centuries and have beautiful balconies with flowerpots and glass galleries. A very beautiful area where you will also find a lot of taverns where you can try the best wines in the area and of course eat the Portuguese specialties.

– Throughout the city you can also find several palaces and churches of great interest, most of them in the various squares of the Barrio Antigo. They are also very interesting to visit the Castle of Santiago de Barra , the port and the Eiffel Bridge.

– Finally, it is highly recommended to go up to the viewpoint of Monte de Santa LucĂa , which you can reach by funicular and where you find the Basilica of Santa LucĂa and spectacular views of the city and its surroundings.
