Considered one of the world’s cradles of art and architecture, it is not surprising that museums are among its main attractions. Among them, the Uffizi Gallery stands out, a palace that began to be built in the 16th century and which houses one of the oldest and most famous art collections on the planet. Its size is surprising (5.17 meters). The collection began in 1784, when the Academy of Fine Arts, created in 1563, wanted to offer study material to drawing students.

One of the most emblematic places in Florence is the Ponte Vecchio, a medieval bridge located over the Arno River. Although it was initially built by the Romans in wood, in the 14th century it was rebuilt in stone. In fact, it is considered the oldest stone bridge on the continent. Its hanging houses stand out, which for years have been occupied by goldsmiths and jewelers; and the padlocks that visitors have hung for years as a sign of love.

Another square in Florence that is worth visiting is the Piazza della Signoria, which is like a kind of open-air art gallery. Created in the 13th century, it is symmetrical in shape and houses important buildings, such as the Palazzo Vecchio , which today is the central seat of the town hall; the Logia dei Lanzi, which houses some important sculptures; the Fountain of Neptune; and the Equestrian Statue of Cosimo I, among other monuments. In addition, it is important to keep in mind that it is one of the liveliest places in the city.
