There are many things you can do in this place full of fascinating, wild and magnetic landscapes, so surely you will not know where to start. Therefore, today we want to propose five activities that you should do if you have the opportunity to visit Iceland. Would you like to join us?

See an aurora borealis

Northern Lights
We want to start by talking about the Northern Lights, a phenomenon of nature that everyone should contemplate at least once in their life, as it is tremendously spectacular. One of the best places to see this phenomenon is Iceland. In addition, some astronomers have claimed that the Northern Lights will be more active in the coming years than in recent decades. The best period to contemplate them is between August and April, especially between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Of course, for this you must move outside the city and "pray" that the sky is clear. To be safe, it is best to hire an excursion from an agency.

Whale watching

Whales
Another activity that we recommend doing in Iceland is a whale watching excursion. These excursions are usually carried out on traditional Icelandic boats and usually depart from Reykjavik and Húsavik. Although you can see them at any time of the year, it is between June and August when you will have more possibilities, since 11 species arrive in the country. Apparently, the chances of seeing whales in Húsavik are very high (98%), so it is worth a try. Tours usually last around 3 hours.

Take a thermal bath

Thermal bath
If you visit Iceland you should not miss the opportunity to take a thermal bath in one of the hundreds of thermal baths that are scattered throughout the country. One of the best places to do it is the famous Blue Lagoon , which offers milky blue waters that invite you to relax. Another place where it is worth taking a thermal bath is in the town of Myvatn. Also, you should know that in some towns they have magnificent facilities for about 3 euros.

To ride a horse
