The village
Fornells is a fishing village , which is located in the north of the island of Menorca. Among its main attractions is the traditional port and its large bay , which has an area of more than three kilometers in length.
In addition to these areas, you should also visit the Torre de Fornells , which was built by the English at the beginning of the 19th century. From there, in addition to observing its construction, there are also fantastic views of the coast.
This tower is especially important because it is one of the largest on the island. In fact, it is quite reminiscent of a castle, although small. A construction that was carried out with the aim of protecting the entrance to the port and preventing the disembarkation of enemies, who had the objective of attacking the nearby castle of Sant Antoni.
When visiting the tower, you should also look at its four levels . One of them is the cistern , to accumulate water, while the second is the ground floor for storage of food and weapons. Likewise, it consists of the first floor to house the troops and the terrace where the artillery was located and the surveillance was carried out.

Beach
In Fornells you can also go to the beach. There are several options such as Cala Tirant , Cavalleria and Cala Pregonda . Precisely, the latter -although it is a bit remote- is one of the most popular and known for its particular appearance. And it is that it differs from the rest because the sand is red .
In addition, it is surrounded by a quite special environmental environment because it seems to be like the surface of Mars . A scene that contrasts with the water , which is totally crystal clear like the rest of the beaches.
