Kumarakom is located 16 km from Kottayam city. The town of Kumarakom is a set of small islands in Lake Vembanad, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The nearest train station is in Kottayam, about 16 km away, and the Cochin International Airport is located about 76 km from Kottayam city.
