The route

The Royal Monastery of Santa María is one of the main attractions of Guadalupe, characterized by the fortress enclosure, as well as by its construction with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements and the Mudejar accent.

The monastery, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1993 by Unesco, has the Church of Our Lady, which is Gothic in style and with Baroque decoration in which the main altarpiece should not be missed.

Another attraction is the Camarín de la Virgen in which there are paintings by Luca Giordano, as well as the two-story Mudejar cloister . A must-see is also the chapter house with its Gothic paintings, the Gothic cloister that is the work of Covarrubias and the sacristy and chapel of San Jerónimo with Zurbarán’s paintings. In addition, there are painting and sculpture museums with works by renowned artists such as Boya, El Greo or Juan de Flandes, among many others.

In Guadalupe, another of the visits that should be made is La Puebla , a name that receives a historical-artistic complex, which is made up of alleys and houses with arcades. Here, there are also several monuments such as the Colegio de Infantes , which was converted into the Zurbarán National Parador in 1966, or the group of hospitals .

The Church of Santa Trinidad is another of the attractions of this municipality. In it, we must pay attention to its baroque style, especially its façade and the three naves with a transept and dome that are dedicated to the Trinity. The tour takes us to the medieval arches and the old Jewish quarter .
