La Fageda d’en Jordà, a perfect destination in autumn

La Fageda den Jorda
Fancy a getaway this fall? Well, although the other day we already proposed some interesting destinations to travel during this time of year, all of them outside our borders, today we want to continue offering you good ideas. Of course, this time we stay in our country, which has a lot to offer travelers: art, history, nature, beaches …

What we want to show you today is a magical place that can be found in one of the most complete autonomous communities in Spain. Yes, we are referring to Catalonia, which in addition to having a lot of charming towns, spectacular castles and paradisiacal beaches like those of the Costa Brava, can boast of hosting dreamy mountain landscapes. One of them is the Fageda d’en Jordà . Do you want to know this magical corner? I assure you will not regret!

Autumn, the best season to visit La Fageda d’en Jordà

La Fageda d’en Jordà is one of the 26 natural reserves that are part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park and, as you can see for yourself in the images we offer you in the gallery, it is a truly beautiful place. Of course, everyone agrees that the best season to visit is in autumn. Therefore, if you plan to make a getaway during these months, we recommend you go to this Catalan corner, especially if what you want is to surround yourself with nature and autumn colors.

Favorable conditions despite your situation

La Fageda d’en Jordà is an exceptional beech forest of up to 25 meters that grows at an altitude of 550 m, specifically in a flat area located on the sides of the lava flow of the Croscat volcano. It would be unfavorable conditions for this type of trees if it were not for the humidity in the area and for the drainage of the volcanic rock in this area. The most surprising thing is that when you enter the forest it will seem as if you were immersing yourself in a real cave, since the light practically does not penetrate the beautiful network of the branches. In fact, it will be difficult for you to see the sky between the logs and the crowns full of foliage.

A walk during the fall

As we have said, autumn is the best area to visit the area, since the color range that can be observed there is really beautiful. And it is that the ground is filled with dry leaves from the trees and everything is stained with ocher and earth colors. You can travel the itinerary both on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, although there is still one more option: to go in a carriage drawn by a Percheron horse. In addition, if you opt for this alternative, you can also enjoy an explanation about the Natural Park.
