San Teodoro, atmosphere and spectacular beaches in Sardinia

Saint Theodore
Today I would like to talk about one of the most recommended areas of Sardinia , a Mediterranean island that is already recommended. In fact, some famous people like Flavio Briatore, who incidentally has a very famous nightclub there, have dared to say that it is the Caribbean of the Mediterranean. And reason they do not lack the truth.

San Teodoro is one of the best places you can visit if you are looking for atmosphere and fine sandy beaches with crystal clear waters . It has everything you are looking for if that is the type of tourism you like the most, and you should know that there are prices for all budgets, since you can dine quietly in a bar or restaurant paying between 10 and 20 euros per person and even less.

La Cinta, the best beach in San Teodoro

The famous Costa Smeralda is a must, especially if you are staying in San Teodoro. It is an old town, but you should know that it has been conveniently renovated to receive the thousands and thousands of tourists who visit the island year after year.

You will find 18 beaches to choose from and also bays, some of which are quite hidden and can only be visited by walking. The sand on the beaches is white and fine-grained, and it is necessary to walk dozens of meters within the beach to notice that the water begins to cover. That is why it is a perfect beach to play with paddles or with a ball, and that is why it is also quite common to see families with small children.

The water temperature is usually quite high, so it does not cost much to jump. The sea breeze helps you relax in the sun while a street vendor offers you fruit and smoothies so you don’t get dehydrated.

The most complete beach of all, or at least the one I liked the most, is La Cinta . It is very large and usually quite crowded, but if you have the opportunity to make a niche for yourself, it will not take long to enjoy its clean and crystalline waters. You can reach it by car or on foot, since it is very well signposted and has a parking lot that is located a few minutes from the beach and does not cost too much (1.50 euros per hour).

I also recommend spending a few hours in Cala Brandinchi (you will arrive by the Olbia road turning towards Capo Coda Cavallo) and Cala Girgolu (also accessible by the Olbia road, but turning right when you reach Montipitrosu). They are two places with a lot of charm.

What to do at night?

At night you will not be bored. There is an area with a lot of atmosphere, full of restaurants with affordable prices, music pubs and shops that sell all kinds of items related to the island. There are also handcrafted products such as bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings … Typical of a place where several stalls are set up near the beach.

You will notice that the sellers are quite friendly and are willing to haggle if the price seems high to you. It didn’t take me long to achieve this after negotiating for a very original souvenir pack. That is before sitting in a restaurant and enjoying the best gastronomy. The pasta and pizza served in Sardinia are just as good or better than in the rest of Italy, so you shouldn’t suffer for that. The downside is that you will have to pay the Copperto (Covered), which normally ranges between 1.50 and 2 euros per person. Then, yes, think twice when leaving a tip, because there they charge it in advance.
