The Airport Food and Beverage Awards

Zurich-Airport
A bar in Zurich , exactly located at the Swiss International Airport, has been named the best airport bar in the world. This title was awarded to him at the Airport Food and Beverage Awards , held in Manchester earlier this week. The Center Bar runs the length of one side of the airport’s departure terminal.

This bar managed to beat its most direct competitors: Harry’s Bar, an open-air lounge located on the roof of Singapore’s Changi Airport, and Bumi Saji at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Brussels Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport shared the award in the best wine bar category.

In the non-alcoholic beverages category, the winner was Perfect Day. In this pleasant bar, one can have a coffee and a sandwich at the exit of the Frankfurt airport. What is special is that the coffee beans are organically harvested in the jungle of the mountains of southern India. Le Grand Comptoir at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas , won the award for best bar that is also a restaurant. Frankfurt Airport won the award for best full service restaurant for its Kaefers Bistro.

The winners of this contest were selected by three aviation experts including Martin Moodie, editor of the travel publication The Moodie Report. Moodie, whose team attends almost every major terminal, explained that he believed that food and beverages sold at airports have grown enormously in importance in the last decade due to the time travelers spend in terminals.
