The Louvre Museum, all the art you can imagine

Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum is one of the symbols of Paris and is dedicated to impressionism, archeology and the decorative arts. It is considered the most important museum in the world due to the wealth of its collections and the influence it exerts on the rest of the world’s museums. It was inaugurated in 1793 and began by housing the private collections of the country’s ruling classes, whether members of the monarchy, the aristocracy, and the Church. They are preparing to open two locations in Lens (France) and in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

The main courtyard houses its famous Pyramid , a glass monument that especially at night shows great beauty as the entire area is illuminated. The Louvre contains no less than 300,000 works, of which only 35,000 are on display. It is said that if you want to see all the works on display and go around the museum observing everything in detail, it will take about 9 weeks to do so. Its collections come from various origins, such as the French monarchs, the Napoleonic wars or various donations during the 19th and 20th centuries. His most outstanding work is La Gioconda , by Leonardo da Vinci.

The Louvre has a metro station at the door, called " Palais Royal – MuseĂ© del Louvre ", and also the " Louvre-Rivoli ", " Pont Neuf " or " Concorde ". If you go by RER, get off at the MusĂ©e d’Orsay station, it is on the other side of the Seine and in a couple of minutes walking you will be there. If you go by bus, you have lines 21, 24, 27, 39, 48, 68, 72, 81 and 95. If you use maritime transport, the companies also stop two minutes from the main door. On Tuesdays it is closed, and, whatever day you go, go patiently because the queues are immense, even if all you want is to access the store.
