The year 2020 is full of endless great cultural events in different countries around the world . They are events that are well worth seeing and that are also a good excuse or reason to pack your bags and head to the capitals where they are held. The choice is not going to be easy. Anyway, here we make a summary of the main appointments to prepare the luggage and passports because, the truth is that you have to travel a few kilometers.

One of the great cultural events of this year 2020 is in Cairo. And because? The reason is none other than the inauguration of the new Great Egyptian Museum , which is the largest archeology museum in the world.

The forecast is that it will open its doors next April, at which time the more than 45,000 works of art can be visited, of which around 25,000 have never been exhibited before. In addition, about 5,000 pieces come from the tomb of Tutankhamun .

And where is that museum? It is at a distance of approximately two kilometers from the pyramids. And, apart from its works, it is also interesting to see its premises and its facilities because the building is innovative , drawing attention to its 800-meter-long and 40-meter-high façade. And, of course, emulating a pyramid.

The next stop is Dubai because Expo 2020 will be held there, which can be visited for six months , including the period from October 2020 to April 2021.

An exhibition in which around 180 countries participate and which will be focused on sustainability and mobility to publicize all the innovations and novelties, including flying cars .

The exhibition will also be attractive for its architecture and for openings such as the Museum of the Future , which is focused on the wonders that await generations to come.

And, if all this was not enough, the visit can be used to see the tallest building in the world, the largest shopping center , the new artificial archipelago that will host a fantasy resort inspired by Europe and that will have snow 365 days. of the year and underwater bedrooms , among other points of interest.

Closer to Spain is Bordeaux. A city that is also the protagonist this year, as it is going to host the largest digital center in the world. It is Les Bassins de Lumière s, which is scheduled to open on April 17.

This center has an area of 13,000 square meters . In addition, its location is striking because it is part of what was a 41,000 square meter underwater base during World War II.

Inside this center, you can see exhibitions of immersive digital art , apart from being able to see works of contemporary creations and masters of art history. For example, within the samples are that of ‘Gustay Klimt, of gold and colors’. The center will be inaugurated with this exhibition in which all those who come will be able to see works in large format, including the famous Kiss.

The exhibition ‘Paul Klee, painting music’ is also planned, which will take the visitor on a cultural journey in which there will be a presentation of an opera in the city or a concert under the sea among fish .

Puerto Rico

And another important appointment is the celebration of the 500 years of Old San Juan de Puerto Rico, which is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO . This city, one of the oldest in America, is characterized by its rich cultural identity , which combines Taino, African and Spanish traditions.

For this anniversary, multiple events have been organized such as the premiere of a version of ‘West Side Story’ by Steven Spielberg, as well as the inauguration of the San Juan District , which is an open urban space where there are restaurants, music and art and which will also be the protagonist for the reopening of the Provincial Palace of Old San Juan as a hotel.
