The most important cities of Ukraine

At the moment, the armed conflict that is attracting the interest of the media is the war in Syria. However, we cannot forget Ukraine , where violent episodes continue to occur. And it is that, although it seems a frozen conflict, the truth is that it is rather a latent one. At Vuela Viajes we are totally against any form of violence and we want the conflict in this eastern European country to end as soon as possible. Of course, while that does not happen, the Government of Spain "advises against any displacement to the province of Donetsk and Lugansk, where they continue to produce clashes between insurgents and the Ukrainian army."

Today at Vuela Viajes we want to know a little more about this country that borders Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova. Specifically, we want to know which are its most important cities. Would you like to join us?

How could it be otherwise, let’s start by talking about Kiev, the capital and the most populous city in Ukraine. It is an important industrial, educational, scientific and cultural center of Eastern Europe. Despite the damage that World War II caused to the city, it still has a rich cultural heritage . In addition, here you can discover the Chernobyl Museum.

Kharkov is the second largest city in Ukraine, as well as being an important cultural and educational industrial center. Of course, it is important to bear in mind that your industry is specialized in the production of weapons and machinery. The Plaza de la Libertad stands out, which is the third largest square in the continent and the seventh largest in the world.

The third most populous city in Ukraine is Dnipropetrovsk. Located on the banks of the Dnieper River, it is also an important commercial, industrial and economic center of the country. Special mention should be made of its technological development in the armament metallurgy sector. In addition, it is important to bear in mind that for many it is one of the most beautiful cities in the country.

We continue our tour of Ukraine in Odessa, which is located on the shores of the Black Sea. Hospitality, traditions, beautiful architecture and wide beaches are some of its strengths. One of the most amazing places in Odessa is Deribasovskaya Street, where contemporary artists display their works. Many refer to the city as the "Pearl of the Black Sea".

Another important city in Ukraine is Donetsk, which since 2014 is one of the main combat sites. Among its main points of interest we find the copy of the Plama de Mertsálov monument, which is located in one of its squares, and a monument dedicated to an opera singer, which is located in front of the National Academic Theater. Since April 2014 it has been administered by the Donetsk People’s Republic, a state with limited recognition.

We also have to tell you about Zaporiyia, a city in the south central region of the country that is an important industrial center. It is important to note that it was also an engineering center in Soviet times, which had environmental consequences. Fortunately, the air quality has improved.

It could not be missing in the list Lviv, also known as Lviv. Known for its cultural and architectural heritage , it is home to many monuments, theaters, museums, churches, cafes and restaurants. Its opera house, the Powder Tower, the Town Hall, the Dominican Cathedral and the Lychakisvskiy cemetery stand out.

Kryvyi Rih

Finally, we want to talk about Kryvyi Rih, an important administrative and industrial center. In fact, since 2016 it houses the most important steel industry in Eastern Europe, as well as being an important global center for mining and metallurgy.
