As reported by trivago.es, the country with the most 5-star hotels in the world is China , with 2,940 accommodations, which represent 2% of all accommodations in the country. In second place is Turkey, with 800 hotels and 6% of the total, followed by Mexico (670 hotels and 7%), Italy (450 and 1%), India (430 and 2%), Greece (420 and 2% ), Spain (335 and 1%), United States (330 and 0%), United Kingdom (320 and 1%) and South Africa (285 and 4%).

As you have just seen, Spain is the seventh country with the most 5-star hotels in the world, although these only account for only 1% of the total number of accommodations in the country. Of course, according to the study of the travel portal, the hotels that Spaniards look for the most are 4 stars and they opt more for the 5-star ones when they travel within the country than when they do so abroad. Apparently, those who most searched for luxury hotels are Madrid , followed by Catalans, Andalusians, Valencians and Canaries.

The countries with the highest percentage of 5-star hotels

According to the analysis carried out by the travel portal, the northern area of ​​the country shows an average portion of 1% of luxury hotels of the total number of accommodations, while the southern area, except Brazil and some other countries, shows between 2 and 5%. On the other hand, there are two countries that stand out from all the others, so we could say that they are the most luxurious in the world. We refer to Egypt and the United Arab Emirates , which account for more than 10% each. In fact, in Dubai, the Emirati capital, is the world’s first 7-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab. Other countries that stand out are Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

China

China deserves a special mention, which is making its way into the luxury hotel sector. In addition to being the country that offers the largest number of 5-star hotels, four of the ten cities in the world with the most luxury hotels are Chinese. These are Beijing , Shanghai, Sanya and Guangzhou. In fact, the first two gather more 5-star hotels together than all of Spain. Other cities with the highest number of luxury hotels are Istanbul (Turkey), which is in third place, Marrakech (Morocco), in fourth position; London (United Kingdom), in fifth position; Dubai (United Arab Emirates), in eighth place; and Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), which closes the top 10.
