How could it be otherwise, we have to start by talking about the Pyramids of Giza, the most important monument in the entire country. Located on the Giza plateau, about 18 kilometers from Cairo, they have been a World Heritage Site since 1979, in addition to being considered the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that remains standing. In this archaeological complex we find the pyramids of Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure, as well as other smaller ones, which began to be built around the year 2,550 BC The most spectacular is that of Cheops, also called the Great Pyramid of Giza, which although originally measured 146, 61 meters, today it has a height of 136.86 meters. You can visit them inside although, unfortunately, you will not find much inside.

Another pyramid that receives the visit of many tourists is the so-called Step Pyramid of Zoser, which formerly received the name of Dyeser Desyeseru, which means “the most sacred”. Without a doubt, it is the most important construction of the Saqqara necropolis, which is located south of the city of Memphis, among other things because it is the oldest pyramid in Egypt. Apparently it was the prototype for all Egyptian pyramids. In fact, it is the oldest of all, in addition to being considered the oldest stone construction on the planet. In the complex you can also find the Temple of the Three Ribbed Columns, the chapels of the Sed Party, the House of the South, the House of the North, the Serdab, a funerary temple and a large moat.

The Red Pyramid, which is located in the town of Dahshur, could not be missing from this list. Although its name from the color of the stone with which it was built, the truth is that, like other pyramids of Egypt, it was originally covered with white limestone stone blocks. The pyramid is surprising for its dimensions. In fact, it is considered the third largest pyramid in the country, in addition to being the first with smooth faces. The pyramid is part of the archaeological site of Dahshur, where the Bent Pyramid is also located, which we will talk about below.

Bent Pyramid

Finally, we want to tell you about the Bent Pyramid, also known as the Rhomboid Pyramid or Pyramid of the South of Dahshur. It is located about 40 kilometers south of Cairo and is the only one with this shape in all of Egypt. Apparently, it was designed in a different way than can be seen today. In fact, everything indicates that it is an experimental exercise with the shape of the pyramid. It also stands out for being the pyramid that best preserves the coating.
