The island of Koh Samui was discovered in 1970 by a group of backpackers who came to it and until then it was a totally unknown but also paradisiacal place. Thanks to its beauty, in a very short time it became an island that began to live off tourism and exploit its attractions, becoming one of the most spectacular destinations in Thailand . It is in Surat Thani province, just off the east coast of the Isthmus of Kra.

Until the early 80s, it went practically unnoticed, but word of mouth did a lot for it until it became what it is today: one of the most visited places in the country. In width it measures only 21 kilometers and the landscape is unbeatable thanks to the fact that it is surrounded by many tiny islands. Among the most remarkable natural beauty of the island are its endless white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, coral reefs and the many coconut trees that you can find at almost every step.

The great tourist explosion came in the 90s, which greatly changed not only the island but also the lifestyle of those who lived on it. With hardly any roads to travel 30 years ago, today there is a perfect road that runs along the entire coast and that leaves an excellent view of the interior of the jungle and all its mountains on the other side. On the southeast coast is the island’s most important city, Nathon , which has the port from which all its products are exported and which is the place that welcomes and dismisses all who visit the island.
