Given the greater demand and interest in caravans or motorhomes for this summer, today we are going to continue talking about some routes that can be done within Spain. They are interesting options that can be taken into account and in which there are places of great beauty. They are destinations that are sure to surprise more than one tourist. On this occasion, we focus on the banks of the Tagus .
Madrid
If you don’t want to go too far, a good option is the Community of Madrid to visit all the towns that are around the Tagus River. For example, within them, there is the Royal Site of Aranjuez where the Royal Palace of Aranjuez is located, which has been the residence of the Spanish royal family and is an Asset of Cultural Interest.
Also near this river is Colmenar de Oreja , whose town center is also declared a Site of Cultural Interest. You should not leave this town without trying its cool potatoes.
The tour also takes us to Chinchón to see its historic center and its Plaza Mayor, which is an example of popular architecture, among other attractions. Villaconejos is another of the towns on this route, being well known for its melons. But there are also attractions such as the Church of San Nicolás de Bari, which is from the 16th century.
Without leaving Madrid, he sets off for Villarejo de Salvanés, which, in 1974, was declared a historical complex due to its great monumental heritage, among which the Church of San Andrés Apóstol, the Torre del Homenaje or the Casa de la Tercia stands out, among others.
Castilla la Mancha
Other places to visit are Belmonte , already in Cuenca , to see for example its Gothic-Mudejar style castle, dating from the 15th century. And from this municipality we go to Villamanrique with the Church of San Andrés Apostol, built at the end of the 15th century and which was finished at the beginning of 1600, contemplating the end of the Gothic period and the transition to the Renaissance. A visit also deserves the Castle of Montizón, which was a key fortress in the reconquest.
Castile and Leon
And the one around the Tagus also leads us to Fuentidueña , in Segovia . Declared of Cultural Interest, its castle stands out; the churches of San MartĂn, San Miguel and Santa MarĂa; the Pilar Chapel or the medieval necropolis, which is carved out of rock and in which there are anthropomorphic graves of medieval chronology.
