Discover Khokana, in Nepal

khokana
If you are one of those who likes nature tourism and visiting authentic places that are natural paradises, one of the best places you can visit is Khokana , in Nepal, a small town that besides being beautiful is great to escape from the stressful pace of work and town. It is located in the Kathmandu valley , just 8 kilometers south of the capital. A rural paradise to escape to and that has only around 5,000 inhabitants.

Khokana has a lot of cobbled streets where you can see the typical brick houses with the red chillies hanging from the balconies. A city with a charming and very peculiar medieval touch, its history enduring in every corner, which is reflected in what seems to be a living museum. Its people are very hospitable to anyone who visits the place, who lives mainly from agriculture and that almost all their activities are carried out outside their homes.

In the center of Khokana is the Shree Rudrayani , a three-story temple where you can see women sitting, men crushing seeds, or anyone doing typical agricultural or everyday activities. The most famous of the town is its mustard oil, which can be used both for food consumption and for therapeutic massages, having even been declared a World Heritage Site. It was the first village in Nepal to get electricity, even before Kathmandu.

In short, Khokana is a place that does not usually have much prominence in travel guides, but if you are going to travel to Nepal , do not look only at the most famous, probably Kathmandu. Here you will find a lot of nature and people willing to make your stay as pleasant as possible and who will show you that they enjoy sharing everything when compared to ours (in quantity), they have nothing.
