Imserso trips 2016-2017

As you well know, through the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services ( Imserso ), the State Administration promotes a Tourism Program for older people that aims to facilitate the incorporation of this group into tourist trends and alleviate the labor consequences that produces the phenomenon of seasonality in the country’s tourism sector.

Today at Vuela Viajes we want to offer all the details about the Imserso trips for 2016-2017. Would you like to join us?

So that the elderly can enjoy a good holiday, yes, in the period from October to June, the Imserso offers different types of travel. Thus, for example, for beach lovers they propose both peninsular coastal destinations (Andalusia, Catalonia, Murcia and the Valencian Community) and insular ones (Balearic Islands and Canary Islands). In addition, the Institute offers inland tourism, proposing cultural circuits, nature tourism, trips to provincial capitals and trips to the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.

The best thing about this program is that the prices are quite cheap. For example, the price including transport for peninsular coastal destinations ranges between 166.03 euros (stay of 8 days and 7 nights in low season) and 365.40 euros (stay 15 days and 14 nights in high season). Trips to the Balearic Islands are somewhat more expensive: they range from 182.75 euros for a stay of 8 days and 7 nights, plus transport, in low season, to 396.80 euros for a stay of 15 days and 14 nights, plus transport, in high season. As for the Canary Islands, the price ranges from 314.23 euros (stay of 8 days and 7 nights) to 585.90 euros (combined trips of 15 days and 14 nights). It is important to bear in mind that in coastal destinations there is the option of choosing the trip without transportation.

As for inland tourism, prices range from 91 euros (trip to a city of 3 days and two nights) to 284.58 (circuits of 7 days and 6 nights). Prices include accommodation (double room to share), full board (on trips to provincial capitals the scheme is half board) and group insurance policy. In addition, coastal trips also include medical service at the hotel itself and an entertainment program. On the other hand, it is important to bear in mind that trips to provincial capitals are on a half-board basis and without transportation.

To access this program it is essential to be a retirement pensioner of the Spanish Public Pension System; widowhood pensioner and have reached 55 years of age; pensioner for another reason, or preceptor of benefits or unemployment subsidies, with 60 years of age; or be the holder or beneficiary of the Social Security system, at the age of 65. In addition, the spouse or domestic partner can participate even if they do not meet the requirements and a child with a disability, as long as they can travel and share a room with the parents. On the other hand, we want to comment that the acquisition of places depends on different variables: the age of the applicants (obtaining a higher point for each year that is over 60 years old, with a maximum of 20 points), the economic situation of the applicants , participation in the program of previous years and the condition of a large family.

Out of time

Those who did not submit their application within the deadline, which was extended from May 30 to June 17, 2016, still have a chance , since the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services allows applications from June 18 to December 1, 2016 , although only to fill possible vacancies.
