As we were saying, today we want to talk to you about one of the many properties that the king of the Medellín cartel had spread throughout Latin America. Renamed Casa Malca, it is located on the coast of Tulum, one of the most desired destinations in the Riviera Maya, which is located in the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico. And it is that in addition to offering spectacular beaches, it houses amazing ruins. Now, the mansion has been converted into a five-star hotel.

Property of art collector Lio Malca

After Escobar’s death in 1993, the mansion was abandoned until 2003, when it was rediscovered and returned to its original owner. In 2012, the property was bought by New York-based art collector Lio Malca . It was he who decided to turn the house and the surrounding villas into a luxury hotel.

The Casa Malca hotel opened its doors in 2015 with 9 rooms, although now it has more than 35. The most luxurious is the Malca Suite , which has 70 square meters and a private terrace that offers spectacular views of the jungle and the sea.

As for the hotel’s public spaces, they include Mayan themes, natural wood, and large windows for maximum natural light.
