The Eiffel Tower is a structure made of iron that is located northwest of Champ de Mars in Paris (the capital of France). In the last 120 years, the Eiffel Tower has become a symbol of Paris , as well as France. It is one of the most important tourist attractions in the world. Considered an icon of the French Revolution, the Eiffel Tower has been the spectator of countless stories that more than one would like to know.

Without a doubt, it is one of the most famous structures in the world. It attracts people from all corners of the world. It is estimated that between 5 and 7 million people visit it each year. Such is its height that a total of 42 miles can be seen from its highest point on a clear day. Construction of the Eiffel Tower began on January 26, 1887, and lasted for more than two years before it was finally completed on March 31, 1889.

Although it was inaugurated on March 31, it was opened to the public a month later, on May 6, 1889. Not many people know this, but the Eiffel Tower was built as an entrance arch for the ‘ World’s Fair of 1889 ". However, another of the objectives of the construction of the Tower was to demonstrate that iron was one of the best options to build, since it was as strong as stone, but lighter. The final costs of its construction came to 7,799,401.31 francs .

The structure was designed by the famous French engineer, Gustave Eiffel . Interestingly, Gustave Eiffel was the person who built the armor for the Statue of Liberty. Other people who participated in the construction of the Eiffel Tower were Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier. Apart from them, 50 engineers and 132 workers worked over a period of two years to build this tower. No fatalities were reported during its construction.
