Do you like Game of Thrones ? Well, we would not be surprised if you were already counting the hours until the seventh season begins, which we can see on HBO and Movistar + at dawn from July 16 to 17, that is, in a very few days. As we already told you in our article «New locations in Spain for the seventh season of Game of Thrones«, Spain will have a lot of prominence in the new chapters of which many agree that it is the best series in history. And it is that the producers have decided to record many important scenes in our country.
Since the fifth season, many corners of our geography have been key focuses of HBO fiction. Today at Vuelva Viajes we want to tell you about two beautiful beaches that will appear for the first time in Game of Thrones this new season. They are Playa de Muriola and Playa de Itzurun. Itzurun beach, Guipúzcoa
First of all, we want to talk about the Itzurun Beach, which is located in the Guipuzcoan town of Zumaia. It is one of the most impressive stretches of the Basque coastline. And we can here find huge vertical limestone cliffs that reach up to 150 meters fall. We are referring to the so-called flysch , geological formations that have been formed over thousands of years by the action of the sea.
The beach, which is very close to the town of Zumaia, offers fine golden sand and strong waves, so many people come to this place to practice water sports such as surfing or bodyboarding . Special mention should be made of the sculpture "Lur Haizea" commissioned by the local council from Koldobika Jauregi, who seems to guard the entrance to the beach.
Filming on this beach began last October. Here we got to see three of the most iconic and beloved characters in fiction: Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Other actors that we could see on the set were Liam Cunningham, who plays Sir Davor Seworth, and Alfie Allen, who plays Theon Greyjoy. We remember that the latter and Jon Snow have not met since the first season.
Muriola Beach, Vizcaya
Playa de Muriola, which is located in Barrika, a municipality in Vizcaya, will also appear in the seventh season of the series. Also known as La Cantera, this nudist beach is located just 10 minutes from the town center, in a small cove protected by cliffs of great beauty.
Small in size, this sandy and rocky beach is completely wild, making it ideal for those looking for a quiet environment. In addition, it is a perfect place for surfing, diving and climbing.
Filming in this place also took place in October of last year, a little before that of Itzurun Beach. Unfortunately, not many images were leaked , so we don’t really know what role Muriola’s sandy area will play in fiction. Of course, in the few photos that were leaked we could see Peter Dinklage with Liam Cunningham, that is, Tyrion and Davos. We do not know details of the plot, but many assure that both characters will support Daenerys.
