In fact, two cities surround them. They are the American Niagara Falls, located in New York, and the Canadian Niagara Falls, in Ontario. From Canada you get the best views, in addition to being able to enjoy numerous tourist attractions, while in the United States you can walk along the edge of the waterfalls and have picnics in specific areas for this activity.

Freezing waterfalls

Although, as we have mentioned, Niagara Falls are an ideal destination for any time of the year, in recent days they have offered a most curious and impressive image. And is that due to the low temperatures that have lived in the area, the waterfalls have frozen. However, not all the water has been frozen, only the surface, so inside the water they continue to fall. It was on February 20 when the lowest temperatures were experienced in the Niagara Falls State Park. Specifically, it reached 22º C below zero.

According to experts, these falls will never be able to freeze completely because they have too much water. Of course, on other occasions ice bridges have been created that visitors have crossed. What many people don’t know is that in 1912 one of these bridges collapsed, killing three people.

A phenomenon that is repeated every year

Although it is a phenomenon that occurs practically every year, this winter has become more important, since the cold wave that has been experienced in the northern hemisphere has been greater than in previous years. In fact, it seems that this striking image will be able to be seen for a few more weeks. According to BBC News , it won’t be until May when the ice melts completely.
