Elantxobe
We want to start by talking about Elantxobe, which is located on the eastern slope of Cape Ogoño, in the province of Vizcaya. This seaside town with steep streets that lead to a small port, where the fishing activity is concentrated, is home to beautiful buildings, such as the Sn Nicolás de Bari parish church, the result of donations from fishermen.
Bermeo
Bermeo is another fishing village that is worth visiting. Its port preserves the fishing spirit of yesteryear and its town center houses important monuments , some of which have been declared of historical-artistic interest, such as the cloister of the church of San Francisco. You will love its lively street village and, of course, its excellent restaurants.
Mundaka
In the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve we find Mundaka, a small and picturesque town that can boast of being the home of one of the longest left-wing waves in the world. In fact, it is a famous surf destination. Of course, beyond its waves, its picturesque port, the hermitage of Santa Catalina and the church of Santa María are worthwhile.
Pasaia
Pasaia could not be missing from this list, a town that is located on the eastern coast of Guipúzcoa, very close to its capital. It is made up of four population centers located in rugged and mountainous terrain. We want to highlight Pasai Donibane , a town with a seafaring flavor, which houses an extensive cultural heritage, like the rest of the territory.
Getaria
On the coast of Guipúzcoa we also find Getaria, a fishing town cradle of illustrious figures, such as Cristóbal Balenciaga or Juan Sebastián Elcano. Touring the town you will discover medieval houses, a beautiful walk to the lighthouse and the port, which has an excellent infrastructure for fishing and tourism. Lekeitio
We continue our tour of the most beautiful coastal towns in the Basque Country in Lekeitio, a town that is located at one end of the Bay of Biscay. Here you will find from important Gothic jewels to wide beaches, passing through a hamlet with a strong marine flavor. Special mention should be made of the island of San Nicolás, which can be accessed on foot when the tide goes out.
Hondarribia
How could it be otherwise, we also want to talk about Hondarribia, known in Spanish as Fuenterrabía. With a long seafaring tradition, this town on the Gipuzkoan coast preserves a walled old town that is full of stately buildings and has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument. Also striking is the Plaza de Armas, where the Castle of Emperor Carlos V is located, which today houses a Parador de Turismo.
Zarautz
Finally, we want to talk about Zarautz, a town in Gipuzkoa that offers a wonderful beach and an interesting old town. In addition, its gastronomy is one of the most famous in the entire Basque Country. Today it is one of the main centers of attraction in the Basque Country. Many of its tourists are surfers.
