One of the Italian destinations that has grown the most in tourism in recent years is Sorrento , a small city that is becoming very famous especially for summer holidays. For you to locate yourself, it is more or less an hour’s drive from Naples. At first glance it seems one of the many tourist towns that you can find all over the world, but it has certain peculiarities that make it special.
Sorrento sits on spectacular cliffs that offer a magical view from the Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius. From there you can also get very close to places such as Pompeii or the island of Capri, so without a doubt it is a perfect place to take a small route through several towns in the area since they all have a lot of charm. It has the advantage that it is not overcrowded with people like other Italian destinations are.
Here you will not find any beach so it is not a typical summer destination where you can go to lie on a beach "and that’s it" (although there are people who bathe in the port), but you can find several very interesting routes of different themes, such as the history of the country, mythology, the best wines or Italian food (always a pleasure to taste).
Of everything you can see in Sorrento, places such as the Roman ruins of Villa Pollio , the Archaeological Museum or the Duomo Cathedral stand out, as well as the city itself as it is very picturesque and getting lost in its streets taking a walk is one of the things that most attract tourists. If you are going to be in Italy and Sorrento is not very far, I definitely recommend a visit, even if it is only for a few hours, it has a lot of charm and it is one of the most beautiful towns in the world.
